Minimize risk of falls and mess in your entryway by including a door mat to decrease slipperiness of ground. Ensure you choose an option that is secure with no shifting, resolve uneven footing, heavy and big enough to avoid blowing away, folding under, etc.

The height of your exterior lighting should be at least 32" tall for mobility device clearance (ie wheelchair). IF space does not allow, an alternate option is swing-clear hinges (aka wide-throw or offset hinges). Clear height of door opening should be a minimum of 80 inches

Times in transit can be risky. Minimize your chances of tripping with arms full of items by including a table, bench, or alternate spot for setting things down while locking/unlocking the door. Try to have a logical place for everything, and ideally an actual seat (for those who are ambulatory) to sit, get footwear and other outdoor wear on and off, and get organized before entering and exiting the home.

A home security and organizational benefit: provide a space for mail or delivery people to leave package without having to worry about porch pirates or getting to the door by a certain time. Be sure to note on your delivery instructions so that your items are consistently left in the appropriate location.
